Stephen Ochieng Leaves Shabana After Outstanding Season

When we published our preseason update a few weeks ago, we genuinely believed Stephen Ochieng would remain part of the Glamour Boys for another campaign. Like many of you, we were excited to see our Golden Glove winner continue guarding the goal at Gusii Stadium.

Football ! Football ! Football !

Stephen Ochieng has now officially left Shabana FC after completing a move to Tanzanian Premier League side Pamba Jiji FC, bringing an unforgettable two-year chapter to an end.

As Shabana supporters, this one hurts.

A Goalkeeper We Could Always Trust

Over the last two seasons, Ochieng wasn't just our goalkeeper, he became one of the leaders of this team.

Week after week, he gave us confidence. Whether it was making impossible saves, commanding the backline, or stepping up in the biggest matches, he always gave everything for the badge.

Winning the FKF Premier League Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets wasn't luck. It was the reward for consistency, hard work, and countless moments where he rescued the Glamour Boys.

Those performances deserved recognition, and eventually clubs came calling.

His Farewell Message Says It All

Before leaving, Ochieng shared an emotional message that perfectly captured the bond he built with the Shabana family.

"Through the highs and lows, and against the waves and tides, we stood together as a family and conquered every storm."

He continued:

"To the Shabana FC Kenya fraternity, thank you for the love and support you gave me. For becoming a home and a family, I say thank you. The flag flew high, the bar was raised, and a statement was made. I'm truly grateful."

Reading those words reminds us that football is about more than trophies and results. It's about the relationships built between players and supporters.

Stephen didn't just play for Shabana, he embraced what it means to wear the red jersey.

A New Adventure in Tanzania

His move to Pamba Jiji FC marks the first time Ochieng will play outside Kenya.

He reunites with Kenyan coach Francis Baraza and goalkeeping coach John Waw, giving him a familiar environment as he begins this exciting new chapter.

As much as we'll miss seeing him at Gusii Stadium, we're proud to see one of our own take the next step in his career.

The Next Chapter for Shabana

The club has already moved to strengthen the goalkeeping department by signing Lazarazu Bixinte from Posta Rangers.

Replacing a goalkeeper of Stephen Ochieng's quality won't be easy, but every new season brings fresh opportunities and new heroes.

As supporters, we'll give whoever wears the gloves next the same backing we've always given our team.
