Back to Awendo, One Last Time: Match Preview
By Shabananation • 5/30/2026
Football has a funny way of bringing stories full circle.
Earlier this season, Shabana travelled to Awendo and left with heartbreak after a late defeat against Mara Sugar. It was one of those afternoons that lingered in the minds of supporters long after the final whistle.
Now, the Glamour Boys return to Awendo Green Stadium for the final match of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season.
Different opponent.
Different occasion.
Same mission.
Three points.
With Gusii Stadium still under renovation, Awendo becomes Shabana's temporary home once again as KCB FC stand between the Glamour Boys and a strong finish to the campaign.
What's At Stake?
More than just another league fixture.
Shabana enter the final day sitting fourth in the table with 52 points. A victory would secure a top-four finish and potentially widen the gap over the teams chasing from below.
Considering where the club was just a few years ago, another season in the upper reaches of the table would represent genuine progress.
For the players, it is about ending the season on a high.
For the supporters, it is about seeing the team rewarded for months of travelling, singing and standing behind the badge.
One final push.
One final statement.
Familiar Opposition
There should be no fear going into this one.
The last meeting between the two sides came on December 20, when Shabana travelled away and produced one of their best performances of the season, defeating KCB 3-1.
The head-to-head record this season therefore belongs entirely to the Glamour Boys.
KCB will certainly arrive looking for revenge, but recent form suggests we have every reason to believe.
While Shabana have picked up important points in recent weeks, KCB arrive on a difficult run, having failed to win in their last 5 matches.
Form means little once the whistle blows, but confidence matters.
And Shabana have reasons to be confident.
The Man Supporters Want To See
As supporters discuss the final match of the season, one name keeps coming up.
The forward has been one of Shabana's brightest performers throughout the campaign and remains among the league's Golden Boot contenders.
Last time out Caleb stepped in and delivered when called upon.
But many supporters will be hoping to see Ochieng leading the line once again in this season finale.
The script is there.
A home crowd in Awendo.
The final game of the campaign.
A chance to add to his goal tally.
A chance to sign off in style.
If Shabana are to finish the season with smiles, many fans believe Ochieng could be the man to make the difference.
The Oracle Has Spoken
Earlier this week, the Gusii Oracle made his final prediction of the season:
Shabana 2-1 KCB
A scoreline that would secure three points and send the supporters home happy.
Whether the Oracle possesses football wisdom or simply enjoys living dangerously remains open for debate.
But few Shabana fans would complain if that prediction comes true.
One Last Dance
The season has brought memorable victories, frustrating draws, painful defeats and moments that reminded everyone why football matters.
One more chance to back the boys.
